The Secret Power Diana Woman

Star Wars Anakin and Obi-wan lightsaber duel
It's safe to say that if you are a Star Wars fan then at some point in your life you've wanted to be in a real lightsaber fight. Re-enacting famous duels from the movies can only get you so far and you dream of the day when you don't have to make the signature noises from your mouth. Well, he didn't get to use a real one, but one man used a toy lightsaber to defend himself from a knife-wielding attacker and it actually worked. I'm going to take a guess and assume that he was way too busy defending himself to make any lightsaber noises at the time.
According to the Charlotte Observer, a stepfather in Rock Hill, South Carolina, was attacked by his daughter in their apartment. The 17-year-old female grabbed two kitchen knives from a nearby knife stand and slashed at the man. Assumedly grabbing the closest thing he could find, the stepfather defended himself with a toy plastic lightsaber. The man hit the girl several times with the toy before the altercation ended. The daughter was then arrested by the police and charged with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature.
Obviously, this was a serious situation and some quick thinking kept him from potentially fatal injury, but that man could not have picked a better weapon to defend himself with. We can't imagine a lot of scenarios where a fake lightsaber could save your life, but apparently, it was enough to hold off an attacker wielding two knives.
As far as duels go, it was probably less extravagant than, say, Anakin vs. Obi-Wan from Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith and was something more grounded like Rey vs. Kylo Ren in Stars Wars: The Force Awakens. It's tough to say without actually being there, so I'll just provide this clip from Force Awakens for reference.

Speaking of Force Awakens, it's sequel, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, is becoming one of the most hotly anticipated movies of the year. Directed by Rian Johnson, the sequel is being kept under the tightest of wrapping imaginable, but it will find Rey coming face to face with Luke Skywalker, as the battle against the First Order intensifies. There's no trailer or footage from the sequel yet, but it's expected to release something at the upcoming Star Wars Celebration.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is expected to premiere on December 15, 2017. For more updates on everything Star Wars, make sure to keep checking in with CinemaBlend and we'll keep you posted as soon as new information becomes available.
