Dumb things in X-Men: Apocalypse everyone just ignored

Image
With Days of Future Past, director Bryan Singer created one of the best X-Men films ever made. With its 1980s-set sequel Apocalypse? Not so much. Apocalypse pretty much choked on its own ambition, making for a bloated story with far too many characters and even more weird plot holes. Look, we love the X-Men as much as anyone, but this one had its faults. So, how did Nightcrawler even get captured? X-Men movies love a good cage fight scene, and in this one, Singer uses the mutant fight club to introduce us to Angel and Nightcrawler. Nightcrawler is dumped into the ring as an unwilling contestant, and somehow can't teleport out of the ring because … it's electrified? Which makes no sense, because that would mean Nightcrawler can't, like, teleport through a wall with wiring in it. Or a light switch. That is absurd. Nightcrawler can teleport to pretty much anywhere he can see or has visited before. Hell, why not just teleport into the rafters, then outside the ring?

Why Avatar 2 Won’t Make Its 2018 Release Date, According To James Cameron

Image
If there's one good thing you can say about the Avatar sequels, nobody can accuse them of being rushed into production. Quite the opposite, the movies keep getting pushed back. Guess what? After being given yet another release date in 2018, James Cameron now says that Avatar 2 will not be here by then. The issue, he says, is that he's not just making one movie right now. He's making four, and that takes time. Well, 2018 is not happening. We haven't announced a firm release date. What people have to understand is that this is a cadence of releases. So we're not making Avatar 2. We're making Avatar 2, 3, 4 and 5. It's an epic undertaking. It's not unlike building the Three Gorges dam. (Laughs) So I know where I'm going to be for the next eight years of my life. It's not an unreasonable time frame if you think about it. It took us four-and-a-half years to make one movie and now we're making four. We're full tilt boogie right now. This is m

Avatar 2: What We Know So Far

We've seen a lot of absolutely gigantic blockbusters over the last five years, from the record-shattering performance of James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy to Peyton Reed's summer hit Ant-Man to Zack Snyder's Superman reboot Man of Steel, but none of them have been able to come anywhere close to the high bar set by James Cameron's Avatar. Released in December 2009, the film continues to hold the record as the highest-grossing movie of all time, pulling in $2.782 billion worldwide. We have been patiently waiting for sequels to arrive ever since, and while the filmmaking team behind the franchise has been taking its time, they have some absolutely gigantic plans for the future. Just like we've done for Captain America: Civil War, Batman V Superman, and many other major blockbuster movies, we have put together a special guide to help all of you keep track of the latest developments of Avatar 2 and beyond. Who from the cast of the first movie is coming back? Wher

How Lupita Nyong’o Feels About Keeping Star Wars Secrets

Image
While being a part of the Star Wars universe must certainly be fun, there is a great deal of pressure that comes with the job as well. After all, the science-fiction franchise is one of the most guarded in the entire industry, and as a result anyone involved with the various projects have to be all but completely silent about what they know and what they've seen. You'd think this would weigh heavily on anyone, but it turns out you can scratch Lupita Nyong'o off that list. As it happens, she not only really loves keeping secrets, but is even legitimately disappointed when those secrets become public knowledge. With 2016's The Queen Of Katwe recently being released on Blu-ray and DVD, I had the tremendous pleasure of hopping on the phone with Lupita Nyong'o to talk about her work... and it was at the end of our conversation that we touched upon her need to be cautious regarding her involvement in the Star Wars franchise. Specifically, I asked her if reveals like t

Marvel's Legion Renewed For Season 2 At FX

Image
FX's Legion has offered up some of the best television of the winter season, and critics and fans alike are praising the show, which is a far departure from your typical Marvel or X-Men series. For these reasons and more, FX has pulled the trigger and confirmed that we will indeed be seeing a Season 2 of the series, which will be continuing Noah Hawley's take on the psychic mutant David Haller, a.k.a. Legion. The renewal comes with only three episodes remaining in the eight-episode Season 1, and it's on the heels of some other exciting news. Just a couple weeks ago, we reported that Patrick Stewart was 100% down for appearing as his iconic X-Men character Charles Xavier in the series, which would be huge news for Season 2 of Legion. Without getting too spoilery (head here for the story), suffice to say the inclusion of Stewart would be one of the first truly blatant connections Legion would share with the Marvel cinematic universe. 8 Times Marvel Blatantly Hinted At Captain America's Death In The MCU

Image
Although Robert Downey Jr. 's Tony Stark started the Marvel Cinematic Universe with 2008's Iron Man , Chris Evans has arguably become the heart and soul of the entire franchise. He has genuinely grown into the role of Steve Rogers over the course of the last six years, and the Captain America movies have become some of the most consistently entertaining entries in the entire MCU. That said, all good things must eventually come to an end, and recent rumors have suggested the fact that Chris Evans may want to hang up his vibranium shield after next year's The Avengers: Infinity War debuts. If Chris Evans genuinely intends to step down from his role as Captain America after Infinity War , then this leads us to believe that Marvel may have him die at the hands of Josh Brolin's Thanos -- thus mirroring a famous moment from the comics. It's a significant move for Marvel to make, but it seems like they've already hinted at it before. On that note, we've gone t

The Walking Dead Season 7: What We Know So Far

With one of television's biggest weekly audiences, The Walking Dead is coasting along, possibly past the point where the only thing likely to end it is an actual worldwide apocalypse where the dead rise up and turn humanity into a grungy skeleton of what it once was.
